I'm getting strange runtime errors when starting up BiDiBLAH for the first time.

What happened to the Google API key?

How can I extract links / email addresses and other information from certain websites?

Why am I not getting any results with the Sub Domain / Virtual Host Extraction module?

Why can't I add new targets to the reverse lookup module?

Launching SPUD from within BiDiBLAH doesn't work, I have to start it manually. Why is this?

My antivirus reports that BiDiBLAH contains a trojan/virus! WTF?

The port scanner and banner grabber is not working. Why?

What source file must I use when exporting data to a DB?

When loading plugins from my Nessus server BiDiBLAH becomes unresponsive. Why is this?

The banner grabbing module seems to be missing some banners I manually verified. Why is this?

BiDiBLAH is not returning the zone file (Forward Lookup Module) when I'm sure the zone is transferable.

I'm getting strange runtime errors when starting up BiDiBLAH for the first time

BiDiBLAH 2.x uses the Microsoft .net 2.0 platform. Download the redistributable package from Microsoft and (re)install your .net framework.

What happened to the Google API key?

The Google API key was replaced with SensePost SPUD. SPUD is a unified data API that integrates Google, Live and Yahoo search results. You don't need a Google API key when using SPUD, and you can download SPUD for free.

How can I extract links / email addresses and other information from certain websites?

Firstly, you can use the BILE module to extract links on specified targets. Not only will this module extract links, but it will compare the results with sites linking BACK to the target (using SPUD), and weigh the results accordingly. BILE is short for Bi-Directional Link Extraction".

Why am I not getting any results with the Sub Domain / Virtual Host Extraction module?

These modules (and partly the BILE module) are dependant on SPUD. Make sure that SPUD is running and that you can make ad hoc searches with SPUD and get results. Virtual Host Extraction specifically uses the Live Search results from SPUD, so make sure you have Live Search AppID / key.

Why can't I add new targets to the reverse lookup module?

You must define the IP ranges in the netblocks module. Once you've done that, you can import them into the reverse lookup module.

Launching SPUD from within BiDiBLAH doesn't work, I have to start it manually. Why is this?

Make sure that you have setup the SPUD directory (NOT the /bin directory) in the config. SPUD cannot be started from the /bin directory, it has to be started from the directory just above it.

My antivirus reports that BiDiBLAH contains a trojan/virus! WTF?

This is a lie. BiDiBLAH does NOT contain any trojan/viruses/spyware etc. This issue usually goes away after the next virus definition update. If it does not, please contact research [at] sensepost [dot] com.

The port scanner and banner grabber is not working. Why?

Make sure that you installed your raw packet driver properly. Instructions on how to do this can be found in your installation directory under /docs.

What source file must I use when exporting data to a DB?

Go to the Setup tab of BiDiBLAH and click on Save (bottom left corner). This will save the data in BiDiBLAH into a flat format. Use that file as a source file for DB export.

When loading plugins from my Nessus server BiDiBLAH becomes unresponsive. Why is this?

This process can take several minutes depending on your machine and the Nessus server. Please be patient in this regard. If an error occurs, BiDiBLAH will notify you, in the meantime, make some coffee.

The banner grabbing module seems to be missing some banners I manually verified. Why is this?

Go to the setup tab, and under banners (sub tab), increase the "Delay Between Packets" value. This will allow more time for BiDiBLAH to wait for returning banners. Naturally, this will result in slower performance.

BiDiBLAH is not returning the zone file (Forward Lookup Module) when I'm sure the zone is transferable.

Currently, BiDiBLAH only performs a zone transfer on the default DNS server. I.e, not on the given domains DNS server. This will be addressed in a future release.
